The garden is located in the agricultural plains of the Buchan countryside in Aberdeenshire, and it covers five acres of what was once a working croft surrounded by hawthorn hedges. We have lived here 35 years and it now comprises several acres of mature woodland giving shelter to over 100 different rhododendrons and a hugely varied woodland understory.
Visitors remark on the diversity of birdlife and the feeling of quiet and peace as they enter into the trees. Other areas to note include a young and thriving shelter belt where visitors will get ideas for how to lay out and develop shelter for exposed plots.
